kishin[0] = "This is Mark again! This past summer, I've been able to hang out with Kishin Daiko in West Covina. I went to a couple of their practices and saw how they operated and such. It was cool. Kishin was kind enough to let me help them with re-skinning their chu's. It was an awesome experience for me because I never knew how one would skin a taiko drum back then. It was a fun and educational day.";
kishin[1] = "What is so interesting is that Kishin used the technique of using cable pulleys to pull down the skin on the drum. The other technique is have the skin remain stationary while we use jacks to jack up and push the drum into the skin. I've sinced experience both drum tightening strategies and the cable pulley is easier to do because we only have to hook them up and crank them. The jack techniques takes more experience and finesse.";
kishin[2] = "Let's get this party started!";
kishin[3] = "Using pvc pipe as a latch is genius! Kishin has been around for a long time and they sure knew what to do.";
kishin[4] = "We see Lance here cutting the hides and attaching the mi-mi's";
kishin[5] = "Cool stuff.....";
kishin[6] = "We see Larry measuring the distance from the edge of the drum to the mi-mi's. This will ensure that we have even tensioning in all directions of the drum......dang what's with the face Lance!";
kishin[7] = "It was now lunch time! As you can see we stretched that sucker quite a bit. I’d like to mention how was awesome Jim Friesen was, the director of Kishin, hosting the taiko-making day. He even provided the food as well. A+ in my book! =)";
kishin[8] = "Kishin was repairing stands and such as well during that day";
kishin[9] = "That's a lot of clamps......";
kishin[10] = "Alrighty, on to skinning the other drum!";
kishin[11] = "Water water water!";
kishin[12] = "We're going to tack this sucker now.";
kishin[13] = "Oooooo.........l33t tacking skillz.....";
kishin[14] = ""Screw lube: Can't screw in that hole? Just lube it up!"";
kishin[15] = "Kuni looks a little bit TOO happy......hehe. That Kuni......he’s a funny guy.";
kishin[16] = "Oh oh, watch out, tis Kitty’s turn to kick some tack butt!";
kishin[17] = "Kitty’ l33t as well...";
kishin[18] = "Measuring the depth of each tack now. If any are not in alignment, we’re going to nudge them with a hammer.";
kishin[19] = "Lance and Larry starting to work on tacking the other drum.";
kishin[20] = "Voila!";
kishin[21] = ""Whew, a hard day’s worth of work!" – Larry";
kishin[22] = "Oh what's this! Somethings wrong here......";
kishin[23] = "Crap, the tension was so great, we broke the base-board.....Ouch!";
kishin[24] = "Looks like a pie crust...hehe";
kishin[25] = "Smash!";
kishin[26] = "Kuni’s head fits perfectly in that dent.";
